Internal Audit Manager – Risk Services

About the role

PwC New Zealand is seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to join its Risk Services practice in Christchurch. The role involves delivering internal audit and risk management engagements for a diverse client base, helping enhance control environments and business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Internal Audit partners on business development and maintain long‑term client relationships.
• Develop tailored internal audit plans and scopes in partnership with senior client stakeholders.
• Lead and manage audit projects, including scoping, execution, reporting and presenting findings to leadership and audit risk committees.
• Work with subject‑matter experts to provide bespoke risk and control advice.
• Coach, mentor and develop engagement teams, supporting their career progression.
• Oversee project quality, financials and resourcing, ensuring successful delivery.
• Contribute to the growth and advancement of PwC New Zealand’s Internal Audit practice.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in an internal audit‑focused role, including managerial responsibilities.
• Experience within a professional services firm or internal audit/assurance function.
• Strong understanding of internal audit methodology, risk frameworks, business processes and controls.
• Proven ability to develop strategic, risk‑based audit plans and deliver actionable recommendations.
• Excellent report writing, presentation and analytical capabilities.
• Demonstrated success in maintaining long‑term stakeholder relationships.
• Robust project‑management experience handling multiple engagements simultaneously.
