Household Assistant

About the role

The Household Assistant joins Braemar Hospital’s Housekeeping & Laundry team, ensuring patient rooms, corridors, lounges and theatre areas meet strict infection‑control standards. Working on a rostered, rotating schedule, you will support a clean, safe environment for patients, families and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, and wiping surfaces in patient rooms, bathrooms, staff areas and public spaces.
• Maintain cleanliness of corridors, waiting rooms, lounges and utility areas to hospital standards.
• Assist the Housekeeping & Laundry Manager with occasional laundry duties when required.
• Adhere to all housekeeping policies, procedures and infection‑control protocols.
• Work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and school holidays.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a cleaner or housekeeper, preferably in a healthcare, food manufacturing or similar environment with strict cleaning standards.
• Ability to work independently while following prescribed standards.
• Strong communication skills and a methodical, process‑oriented approach.
• Team‑player attitude, self‑motivated and reliable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of environmental cleaning standards and infection‑control practices.
• Competence in using cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops and floor scrubbers.
