General Worker – Civil Infrastructure (Wellington)

About the role

Downer is seeking a motivated General Worker to join its Wellington team. This role involves supporting civil infrastructure and roading projects, operating machinery, and performing a variety of manual labour tasks on construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with safe site setup for crew and the public.
• Operate general machinery and equipment under supervision.
• Handle day‑to‑day manual labour duties, including material handling and site clean‑up.
• Ensure efficient use of supplies, materials and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with the team to meet client requirements, including occasional night or early‑morning shifts.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to perform demanding outdoor work.
• Reliable, hard‑working and comfortable working in a team environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including night or early‑morning shifts.
• Interest in civil construction and roading projects.

Required skills

• Class 2 licence (mandatory).
• Experience in civil construction or related manual labour is desirable.
