About the role
The Gallery Assistant will support the daily operations of the Papakura Art Gallery, helping to deliver high‑quality exhibitions, events and community programmes. This part‑time, permanent position works across Wednesday to Saturday and focuses on excellent customer service and public engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination of exhibition installations, openings and related events.
- Provide front‑of‑house support, greeting visitors and responding to enquiries.
- Liaise with artists, community organisations, contractors and the public to ensure smooth gallery operations.
- Help design and deliver engaging public programmes and events.
- Maintain gallery records, update signage and support administrative tasks.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of visual arts and experience in exhibition or event delivery.
- Previous front‑line experience in an arts or cultural facility.
- Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
- Positive attitude, strong people skills and a ‘can‑do’ approach to customer service.
