Finance Business Partner

About the role

Make a real impact by partnering with senior leaders at the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) in Wellington. As a Finance Business Partner you will provide strategic financial insight, shape funding decisions and support fee‑setting and cost‑recovery activities across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of financial plans and analyse performance, risks and issues.
• Prepare accurate, timely financial reports and ensure robust assumptions underpin budgets and forecasts.
• Advise on NZTA’s complex funding environment and contribute to business case development.
• Partner with business units on fee setting, cost recovery and pricing assumptions, providing insight on recovery strategies.
• Document assumptions and methodologies to enhance transparency, compliance and reporting.
• Drive process improvements and build financial capability across the organisation.

Required profile

• Qualified chartered accountant or equivalent.
• Demonstrated senior‑level business partnering experience, especially in a regulatory or fee‑funded environment.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, build trusted relationships and communicate complex financial concepts.
• Strong collaborative mindset with a detail‑oriented quality‑assurance discipline.

Required skills

• High‑level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP (advantage).
