Enterprise Architect

About the role

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is undertaking a major transformation to modernise New Zealand’s aviation system. For a 12‑month fixed‑term, we need an experienced Enterprise Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership, aligning business, data and technology decisions with long‑term, sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain CAA’s target enterprise architecture and transition roadmap.
• Advise the Executive Leadership Team and programme governance on critical decisions and trade‑offs.
• Ensure all transformation initiatives are aligned, sequenced and integrated.
• Resolve cross‑programme design conflicts and dependencies.
• Shape investment decisions to support the target operating model.
• Establish pragmatic architecture governance that balances speed with alignment.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure solutions are practical and implementable.
• Drive a coherent, organisation‑wide view of processes, data, systems and ways of working.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading enterprise architecture in complex transformation programmes.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and executives.
• Experience shaping target operating models across business and technology domains.
• Strong understanding of dependencies across process, people, data and technology.
• Ability to balance strategic vision with delivery pragmatism.
• Experience establishing architecture governance and decision frameworks.
• High credibility and sound judgement in ambiguous, evolving environments.
