Court Registry Officer – Fixed Term (6 months)

About the role

This is a six‑month, full‑time fixed‑term role as a Court Registry Officer within the Criminal Jurisdiction Team at Whanganui District Court. You will support the smooth operation of the court, interacting with judges, lawyers, and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with court taking, including introducing judges in English and Te Reo Māori and providing courtroom and chambers support.
• Deliver front‑line customer service in person, by phone or email, answering court‑related queries.
• Maintain accurate case files and perform substantial data‑entry tasks as part of case management.

Required profile

• Resilient and able to handle sensitive, high‑volume cases.
• Detail‑oriented with strong observational skills.
• Self‑aware, mature and positive when dealing with diverse customers.
• Capable of multitasking and shifting quickly between repetitive processes.
• Eager to learn and adapt to changing legislation and procedures.
• Excellent communicator with good English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation; comfortable using audio‑visual equipment.
