Backfill Engineer – Paste/CRF

About the role

We are looking for a Backfill Engineer (Paste/CRF) to join Endura Mining’s new underground operation near Reefton, New Zealand. The role will support the design, coordination and optimisation of backfilling activities for long‑hole open stoping and cut‑and‑fill mining methods as the company moves towards production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise paste fill and cemented rock fill (CRF) systems to meet strength, quality and timing requirements.
• Coordinate the interface between underground backfill demand and surface tailings disposal, including the paste plant, process plant and Integrated Waste Landform facility.
• Develop stope‑specific fill designs, binder blends, slurry rheology, and curing schedules.
• Specify CRF mix designs, rock size distribution, cement dosage and placement methods for primary and secondary stopes.
• Integrate backfill cycles into the mine plan, manage sequencing, curing times and re‑entry requirements.
• Design and approve barricades for stopes and oversee pipeline, borehole and reticulation systems.
• Implement QA/QC testing such as slump tests, UCS sampling and binder tracking to verify fill performance.

Required profile

• Engineering background with experience in underground backfill operations.
• Familiarity with paste fill and cemented rock fill design and implementation.
• Ability to work closely with mining, geotechnical and plant teams.
