Technical Lead - Data, AI and Analytics

About the role

The Technical Lead – Data, AI and Analytics will provide senior technical leadership for the design, development and optimisation of data, analytics and AI solutions within Datacom. Reporting to the internal Group Data team, the role ensures that data platforms are robust, scalable and aligned with architectural standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and delivery of solutions across data warehouses, data lakes and related platforms, ensuring coherence with architecture standards.
• Collaborate with data operations, reporting teams, architects and business stakeholders to enable technical change and adoption of analytics and AI solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to meet delivery commitments, quality standards, architectural integrity and service expectations.
• Ensure technical architecture principles are followed and coordinate with the architecture function for the relevant platform technologies.
• Offer consultative and implementation support to Data/Analytics Operations, BAU and project teams, including advice on AI‑enabled opportunities.
• Monitor platform and solution performance, identify trends and risks, and drive improvements in reliability, scalability and service quality.
• Contribute to estimation, sequencing and delivery planning for sustainable implementation.
• Mentor peers, conduct technical reviews and uplift engineering practices across the team.
• Determine pragmatic technical approaches to meet service objectives and resolve complex problems.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading technical design and delivery of data, analytics and AI solutions.
• Strong ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and translate business needs into technical implementations.
• Demonstrated track record of maintaining architectural integrity and driving platform reliability.
• Experience providing mentorship and technical guidance to engineering teams.
