About the role

Join RealNZ as a Stewart Island Wharf Assistant at Oban Wharf, where every day brings new challenges in ferry operations, guest interaction, and logistics. You will be at the centre of our island’s transport hub, ensuring smooth vessel movements while delivering memorable experiences for visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage vessel interactions, monitor manifests, and coordinate ferry departures and arrivals.
• Provide guest assistance, answer itinerary questions, and promote local excursions.
• Handle wharf duties such as loading, unloading, and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Support sales of activities and excursions, leveraging local knowledge to enhance guest experiences.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with ferry crews and internal teams.

Required profile

• Previous experience in customer service, preferably in a sales‑oriented environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine, friendly approach.
• Excellent organisational abilities and keen attention to detail.
• Flexibility to work across varied tasks and adapt quickly to changing situations.

Required skills

• Forklift licence (advantageous).
