About the role

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Canterbury invites applications for a full‑time, permanent position at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level in Structural Engineering. Key responsibilities

• Teach core undergraduate and postgraduate courses in structural engineering.
• Develop new postgraduate modules aligned with emerging research areas.
• Establish and lead an externally funded research programme.
• Collaborate with departmental and university researchers on interdisciplinary projects.
• Engage with professional engineering bodies at local, national and international levels.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in high‑impact journals.
• Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality teaching and student supervision.
• Ability to work collaboratively within an academic environment.
• Industry experience as a practising engineer is advantageous.
