HR & Employment Relations Consultant – Advisory Role

About the role

We are seeking an HR & Employment Relations Consultant to join our boutique advisory practice. You will work directly with business owners, managers and senior leaders, providing practical, commercially‑focused HR advice and helping clients manage risk and improve people outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support clients with disciplinary, performance management and incapacity processes.
• Advise on restructuring, change initiatives and employment agreements, policies and HR documentation.
• Conduct HR compliance reviews and deliver tailored advisory projects.
• Provide hands‑on guidance to senior leaders on complex workplace issues.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of advisory resources, templates and client services.

Required profile

• Generalist HR or HR consultancy experience, comfortable working with senior stakeholders.
• Proven experience managing disciplinary, incapacity and performance management processes.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial judgement, attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.
