Head of Learning Area (Years 1-8) – Primary/Middle Years

About the role

KingsWay School, a state‑integrated Christian school on Auckland’s Hibiscus Coast, is seeking a permanent Head of Learning Area for Years 1‑8. The role will be based on either the Senior or Junior campus from 28 January 2027 and combines classroom teaching with leadership of a year‑level team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support high‑quality, research‑informed teaching practice across the learning area.
• Monitor student progress and guide responsive teaching approaches to improve outcomes.
• Coach, mentor and develop teacher capability within the team.
• Support student wellbeing, behaviour, discipleship and engagement.
• Build strong partnerships with parents and whānau and foster a collaborative team culture.
• Champion KingsWay’s Christian special character, vision and values throughout school life.

Required profile

• Nurturing and passionate educator.
• Strong knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum.
• Collaborative working style and desire to grow professional capacity.
• Ability to partner effectively with parents and whānau.
• Experience or strengths in Phase 2 Primary or Middle Years (advantageous).
