About the role
We are looking for an experienced Early Childhood Kaiako to join our Wellington team on a fixed‑term basis (July‑December 2026). The role involves delivering a free, individualised programme for learners aged two to six, using the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and implement personalised learning programmes for each ākonga.
- Collaborate with parents, whānau and supervisors to support each child’s development.
- Provide pastoral care and foster a sense of belonging through regular huinga ako (online or face‑to‑face).
- Utilise digital communication tools to engage learners and share progress.
- Contribute to the team’s values of manaaki, whanaungatanga, tika and learner‑centred decision making.
Required profile
- New Zealand teacher registration with a current practising certificate.
- Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki curriculum.
- Calm, inclusive and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care.
- Excellent communication, self‑motivation and collaborative mindset.
- Interest in developing Te Reo Māori skills (highly desirable).
Required skills
- Proficiency with digital tools for online learning and communication.
