About the role
Join Te Uru Rākau, the New Zealand Forest Service, as a Data Analyst and help turn complex forestry data into actionable intelligence. You will work at the intersection of data, policy and planning, providing insights that shape national forestry programmes and long‑term land‑use decisions across Aotearoa.
Key responsibilities
- Collect, clean and integrate data from multiple sources to support national forestry policy and programme delivery.
- Develop clear, user‑friendly reports and dashboards that communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Run scenario analyses and "what‑if" modelling to inform future planning decisions.
- Collaborate with colleagues in MPI and the wider natural resources system to understand data needs and priorities.
- Respond to stakeholder queries and contribute to building a robust data and insights capability.
Required profile
- Curious about data complexity and motivated to translate it into meaningful insights.
- Experience in data analysis or reporting, with the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both experts and broader audiences.
- Organised, proactive and comfortable balancing independent work with teamwork.

- R (statistical programming language)
- Power BI (dashboarding and visualisation tool)
What we offer
- General Salary Range F: $76,463 to $89,215 per year, dependent on skills and experience.
