Clinical Nurse Specialist – Older Persons Mental Health

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work within the Older Persons Mental Health Services (OPMHS) in North West Tasmania. You will support older adults, their families and carers, delivering holistic, trauma‑informed care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate, develop, implement and evaluate clinical policies, care guidelines, quality‑improvement and research activities aligned with best practice.
• Provide case management for consumers with complex mental health needs, including those living with dementia.
• Facilitate education and support for carers.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community organisations and families to ensure comprehensive care.

Required profile

• Experience in mental health nursing within a clinical setting.
• Understanding of relevant statutory, departmental procedures and policies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of trauma‑informed care principles.
