Senior Property Underwriter

About the role

Lead and shape the future of property underwriting in New Zealand. As a Senior Property Underwriter you will drive growth, innovation and excellence across Zurich’s commercial property portfolio, reporting to the General Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of financial plans and ensure underwriting aligns with internal guidelines and timelines.
• Collaborate with market stakeholders to grow the property portfolio and promote Zurich’s capabilities.
• Drive continuous improvement through coaching, development and process optimisation.
• Leverage underwriting tools, AI and IT systems to enhance service delivery and support organisational change.
• Manage expenses with a focus on cost efficiency and implement quality‑assurance measures.
• Stay informed on legislative and industry changes and contribute to strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in underwriting or senior underwriting roles.
• Proven success in outcome‑driven underwriting and stakeholder collaboration.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of customer loyalty and retention strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Analytical thinking and commercial insight to solve complex problems and lead process improvements.
