Senior Manager Compliance Risk

About the role

The Senior Manager Compliance Risk will lead the first line of defence for ANZ’s New Zealand operations, partnering with business leaders to identify, assess and manage compliance and prudential risks across end‑to‑end value chains. This senior position blends strategic insight with practical delivery to ensure regulatory obligations are embedded and risk outcomes are sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex compliance and prudential risk assessments, spotting emerging risks, control gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to provide trusted advice, thought leadership and constructive challenge on risk matters.
• Design, review and uplift controls, monitoring activities and remediation initiatives.
• Influence governance and business decisions through risk insights, recommendations and pragmatic solutions.
• Support implementation of regulatory and policy changes, helping the business understand impacts and embed sustainable outcomes.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing risk team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in compliance, prudential risk or related regulatory functions within the banking or financial services sector.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence senior decision‑makers.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of building capability and fostering a strong risk culture.
• Excellent judgment, critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
