About the role

We are seeking a dedicated primary teacher (Kaiako) to join our Central South region team for a fixed‑term contract from June to December 2026. The role is based in one of our regional offices – New Plymouth, Palmerston North or Wellington – and supports learners through both face‑to‑face and online interactions.

Key responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging learning experiences aligned with each ākonga’s goals, passions and interests.
  • Lead regular huinga ako sessions (online and in‑person) to provide pastoral care and personalised guidance.
  • Provide constructive feedback and feed‑forward on student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, whānau and community partners to design flexible learning pathways.
  • Embrace and develop te reo Māori skills as part of the teaching practice.

Required profile

  • Current New Zealand teacher registration and practising certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of the Primary curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Calm, inclusive and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care.
  • Confidence using digital tools to connect with learners.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative, values‑driven education.

Required skills

  • Proficiency in digital learning platforms (e.g., virtual classrooms, learning management systems).
