Press and Information Officer – EU Delegation, New Zealand

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Wellington seeks a Press and Information Officer (Local Agent Group I) to support public diplomacy, media relations and information activities. Reporting to the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section, you will help raise the EU’s profile in New Zealand and act as a key liaison for EU‑New Zealand parliamentary and visitor programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the EU’s visibility in New Zealand.
• Organise events, public‑diplomacy activities and official visits of the Head of Delegation and EU Member State representatives.
• Plan, manage and report on media‑related initiatives, including press conferences and media outreach.
• Edit and oversee publications produced by the Delegation.
• Maintain and update the Delegation’s website and social‑media channels (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn).
• Liaise with educational and academic institutions and coordinate the EU‑New Zealand parliamentary friendship group.
• Serve as the contact point for the European Union Visitors’ Programme.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of public diplomacy, media relations and EU affairs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and handle occasional atypical working hours.
• Experience organising events and managing stakeholder relationships.
