About the role
As a Field Service Technician based in Whangarei, you will provide maintenance, diagnostics and repair services on Komatsu equipment across customer sites throughout the Northland region. You will work autonomously in the field, troubleshooting complex mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems while delivering exceptional customer support.
Key responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs and fault finding on heavy mobile equipment at customer locations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues using technical literature and specialised tooling.
- Test, adjust and monitor machine operating systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Complete accurate service documentation, reports and service records.
- Maintain a strong safety focus and deliver high-quality customer service.
- Manage priorities independently and adhere to flexible working hours (Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am‑4:00 pm).
Required profile
- Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic (or overseas equivalent).
- Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting capability on heavy equipment.
- Experience with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities and communicate effectively.
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Class 1 driver’s licence (Class 2 preferred).
- Experience with Komatsu or similar OEM machinery is highly regarded.
