Consultant – Data Insights

About the role

BERL is seeking an experienced data professional to join its Wellington team as a Consultant – Data Insights. You will work with Stats NZ’s Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI) to deliver high‑quality analysis that helps business, industry and public‑sector clients make smarter decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced data analysis on large datasets, including the IDI, using Excel and R to uncover trends and insights.
• Design research methodology, plan projects and manage end‑to‑end delivery while maintaining data integrity.
• Translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable reports, tables and visualisations for clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with project leads, multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure timely and relevant research outputs.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience working with Stats NZ’s IDI in secure Data Lab environments.
• At least two years of professional experience in analytical, research or consulting roles.
• Graduate degree in economics, statistics, data science or a related field.
• Strong quantitative and written communication abilities.
