Associate Trader

About the role

Kiwibank’s Financial Markets team is looking for an Associate Trader to join a supportive, development‑focused environment. You will work closely with experienced traders, gaining technical capability, commercial confidence and market insight while contributing to the management of foreign exchange and interest‑rate risk.

Key responsibilities

• Support the senior trader in managing FX and interest‑rate risk and executing trades within approved limits.
• Book trades, monitor global markets and assist with pricing and customer flow activity.
• Contribute to end‑of‑day reporting and preparation of market commentary and insights.
• Help ensure accuracy, control and risk management in the daily operation of the trading book.

Required profile

• Early‑career professional with a genuine interest in financial markets.
• Experience supporting financial markets, trading or treasury activities.
• Knowledge of New Zealand interest rates, global foreign‑exchange and central‑bank activity.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset and focus on risk and controls.
• Confident communicator who builds trusted relationships with stakeholders.
• Relevant qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce or a related field.
• Willingness to obtain industry accreditation and NZFMA certification.
