Assistant Accountant

About the role

This position offers a chance to deepen technical accounting skills while working in a collaborative, commercially focused environment. Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will support financial operations across New Zealand and Australia, gaining exposure to month‑end processes, payroll, tax, audit and management reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end processes, including OPEX reporting and journal postings
• Manage and maintain the General Ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Perform reconciliations and financial analysis across multiple areas
• Process fortnightly payroll using the Smartly system
• Support weekly ACV (Annual Contract Value) reporting
• Monitor and reconcile ERUC, identifying and resolving discrepancies
• Administer Concur expense processes and travel compliance reporting
• Assist with financial reporting and bookkeeping for the ANZ region
• Provide ad‑hoc analysis and finance support, driving process improvements

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Accounting
• 4+ years of experience in a finance or accounting support role
• High attention to detail and strong sense of accountability
• Collaborative team player with strong communication skills
• Curious, analytical mindset committed to continuous improvement

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (SUMIFS, INDEX/LOOKUPS, Pivot Tables, reporting automation)
• Experience with large ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
• Proficiency with Smartly payroll system
• Proficiency with Concur expense management
