Team Manager

About the role

McIntyre Dick is looking for a Team Manager to lead both the development of our trainees and early‑career accountants and the delivery of core client services. You will combine people‑focused coaching with operational oversight of bookkeeping, GST and software support functions.

Key responsibilities

• Directly manage and develop trainees and early‑career accountants, creating training plans, study support and regular progress check‑ins.
• Provide day‑to‑day coaching, feedback and mentorship to help team members reach their full potential.
• Lead a team that delivers high‑quality bookkeeping, GST preparation and filing, and software support for clients.
• Manage workflow to ensure the right work is assigned to the right people at the right time.
• Maintain quality and accuracy through review and QA checks.
• Participate in the operational leadership group to influence business direction.

Required profile

• Solid grounding in accounting with practical experience in bookkeeping and GST services.
• At least two years of experience in public practice (preferred).
• Leadership experience, either formal management or informal mentoring/training.
• Genuine passion for developing junior staff and helping them find their footing in the profession.
• Critical thinker who questions processes and seeks improvement.
• Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent real‑world experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trust across all career stages.
