Site Manager – Commercial Construction

About the role

Hawkins is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead commercial construction projects on the South Island. You will be responsible for delivering high‑profile developments, ensuring they meet quality, safety and programme targets.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day site operations for projects ranging from $1M to $30M+
• Manage site teams, subcontractors and multiple stakeholders to achieve programme milestones
• Ensure compliance with New Zealand building regulations, standards and company policies
• Monitor health, safety and environmental practices and enforce corrective actions
• Report progress, risks and issues to senior management and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• 5–8 years of site management experience, preferably with a well‑known main contractor
• Proven track record of delivering large‑scale commercial projects on schedule
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and NZ building legislation
• Demonstrated leadership ability and excellent stakeholder management skills
• Relevant trade or tertiary qualification is advantageous but not mandatory
