Road Operations Manager

About the role

The Road Operations Manager will report to the Head of Network Operations and be responsible for overseeing NZ Post’s transport contractors. The role ensures road transport delivers the highest standards of safety, service and people outcomes while staying within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain contractor compliance with NZ Post Safety & Wellbeing requirements, including incident vaults, documents and registers.
• Participate in safety and accident investigations and implement hazard‑reduction actions.
• Develop and sustain positive, professional relationships with transport contractors.
• Monitor transport compliance, manage non‑compliance issues and achieve transport KPI targets.
• Oversee invoicing processes: manage invoices, maintain accurate records, issue and update schedules, and ensure correct payments.

Required profile

• Background in logistics, transport or supply chain management.
• Experience in support, relationship‑management or office roles handling suppliers/contractors.
• Previous work in the transport/freight industry.
• Familiarity with invoicing, accounts or finance processes.
• Working knowledge of health & safety legislation and practices.
• Strong influencing, negotiating and analytical abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
