Road Maintenance Labourer / Cyclic Crew Member

About the role

We are seeking a Road Maintenance Labourer / Cyclic Crew Member to join our Morrinsville team. You will maintain a defined section of the road network, performing both planned and reactive work to keep it safe and in good condition.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine road and asset maintenance across the network.
• Perform minor pavement repairs such as potholes, cracks and edge breaks.
• Maintain drainage systems, culverts, signage, barriers and other roadside assets.
• Undertake vegetation control, litter collection and rest‑area upkeep.
• Operate small plant, vehicles and hand tools safely and correctly.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies, including after‑hours duties when rostered.

Required profile

• Full Class 1 driver licence (Class 2 preferred).
• Practical experience in road, highway or council maintenance.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Clear communication skills and a respectful approach with the public.
• Strong focus on safety and willingness to speak up when needed.

Required skills

• Operation of small plant and maintenance vehicles.
• Use of hand tools for pavement and asset repairs.
