About the role

Join Fisher & Paykel Healthcare’s Surgery division and help shape the future of operating‑theatre solutions. As a Product Development Engineer you will work in a fast‑moving, start‑up‑like environment, applying a “fail fast, learn faster” mindset to bring new medical devices from concept to market.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the existing surgical product portfolio and drive enhancements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define user needs, design concepts, and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration cycles while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and manage 510(k) submissions and other design‑control documentation.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout product development.

Required profile

  • Degree in Chemical & Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the medical‑device or similarly regulated industry.
  • Proven ability to work in a flexible, fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
  • Strong communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

  • 510(k) regulatory compliance.
  • Design control processes from user‑needs capture to manufacturing release.
