Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Maintenance Technician to join our luxury hotel team. You will help protect our investment, ensure guest safety and comfort, and support staff in delivering exceptional service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance across all hotel areas.
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests from all departments.
• Record meter readings and collaborate on energy‑management initiatives.
• Test and maintain fire alarms, emergency lighting and other safety systems.
• Manage contractors to ensure work meets quality and specification standards.
• Monitor waste removal and keep public areas free of odour.
• Provide emergency maintenance outside normal hours as needed.
• Maintain gym equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Assist Front Desk and Housekeeping with ‘down’ rooms to minimise downtime.
• Prepare monthly maintenance reports and contribute to quality‑improvement programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience (hotel or similar environment preferred).
• Trade qualification with knowledge of building compliance, risk management and sustainability.
• Strong problem‑solving, logical thinking and a proactive attitude.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
