About the role
The Maintenance Manager will lead the winery’s maintenance function, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of all plant, equipment and facilities. This role combines health & safety leadership, strategic maintenance planning and hands‑on support during peak periods such as harvest.
Key responsibilities
- Lead health & safety by enforcing procedures, managing risk assessments and maintaining the Permit‑to‑Work system for all contractors.
- Coach, mentor and develop the maintenance team, conducting regular performance conversations and fostering a high‑performance culture.
- Develop and execute the Annual Planned Maintenance schedule and coordinate reactive maintenance to optimise cost, reliability and asset availability.
- Manage spare‑parts inventory, procure materials and minimise downtime risk to production processes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, food‑safety and quality standards, maintaining all required certifications and records.
- Monitor plant and utility performance, investigate SCADA alarms and drive predictive and preventative maintenance interventions.
- Maintain the condition of grounds, buildings, workshops and facilities, identifying opportunities for efficiency and presentation improvements.
- Provide leadership and hands‑on support during harvest and after‑hours operations, ensuring equipment and contractor readiness.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading a maintenance team in an industrial or production environment.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, risk control and Permit‑to‑Work systems.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
- Experience managing compliance with food‑safety, environmental and quality regulations.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure during peak periods.
