Locum Consultant – Adult Elective Orthopaedics & Paediatric Trauma Surgery

About the role

NHS Grampian is seeking a motivated Locum Consultant to join its Trauma & Orthopaedic department for an 11‑month fixed‑term appointment. The role combines adult elective orthopaedics with paediatric trauma duties across Woodend Hospital and the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the 1:6 paediatric trauma on‑call rota.
• Deliver elective adult orthopaedic surgery, focusing on lower‑limb arthroplasty, soft‑tissue knee procedures, and foot & ankle surgery.
• Collaborate with a team of 29 orthopaedic consultants to provide high‑quality trauma and elective services for the Grampian region.
• Contribute to the department’s research, teaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise, in place before starting.
• Consultant‑level experience in trauma & orthopaedic surgery, either newly qualified or established.
• Commitment to a whole‑time, onsite role in Aberdeen.
