General Practitioner (University Health Service)

About the role

We are seeking two to three experienced General Practitioners to join the University of Auckland’s student health service. In this role you will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care to a diverse student population, working within a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, counsellors and psychologists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnoses and treatments in line with best practice.
• Deliver patient‑centred care that supports physical and mental wellbeing.
• Collaborate with nurses, counsellors and other health professionals to provide integrated care.
• Manage referrals, documentation, follow‑up care and case management.
• Support preventative health initiatives, including screening programmes, vaccinations and health education.
• Offer travel health advice and vaccinations as required.
• Assess aegrotat applications and provide academic health advocacy.
• Build relationships with internal and external healthcare providers and referral agencies.

Required profile

• Current NZMC Practising Certificate and indemnity insurance.
• Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
• At least two years’ experience in general practice, preferably with primary or emergency care exposure.
• Current CPR or Advanced Life Support certification.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
• Proven ability to work with young adults and diverse communities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with clinical practice management systems such as MedTech.

What we offer

• Permanent positions with a salary range of $179,800‑$211,500 NZD per year (prorated).
