Financial Controller

About the role

Helios Power Solutions is scaling its operations across New Zealand and Australia and needs a senior finance leader to own the financial heartbeat of the business. The Financial Controller will design and implement scalable finance systems, provide commercial insight, and partner with engineering and sales teams to drive profitable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day finance operations, delivering accurate monthly management accounts and board‑ready reporting.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting, working capital, liquidity planning and ensure robust financial controls and audit readiness.
• Drive the annual budgeting process and quarterly re‑forecasting cycles.
• Architect and implement scalable finance systems, identifying automation and AI opportunities to improve data integrity and decision‑making.
• Provide commercial insight on profitability, pricing, margins and project performance across sales, engineering and operations.
• Monitor project economics, inventory and key cost drivers in real time, and help shorten cash conversion cycles.
• Support M&A activities and growth‑by‑acquisition initiatives as needed.
• Mentor and develop the finance team, championing transparency and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Commercially minded finance professional with a strong operational perspective.
• Proven experience in finance leadership within a growth‑stage industrial or technology‑focused business.
• Track record of building finance systems from the ground up and driving automation.
• Ability to translate complex operational data into actionable financial insight.
• Experience working cross‑functionally with engineering, project management and sales teams.
