Digital Product Designer (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

BNZ is looking for an experienced Digital Product Designer to join its in‑house Design Team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will help create intuitive digital experiences that improve the financial wellbeing of New Zealanders.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end digital experiences, from early concepts and customer journeys to high‑fidelity UI.
• Translate customer and business needs into clean, user‑friendly solutions.
• Contribute to and evolve BNZ’s Design System, creating scalable patterns and components.
• Collaborate with product owners, engineers, researchers, and content designers to bring ideas to life.
• Use research and data to inform design decisions and champion customer needs.
• Prototype, test, iterate quickly and learn from outcomes.
• Participate in regular design critiques, giving and receiving constructive feedback.
• Raise the bar for design craft, accessibility, and consistency while balancing speed and quality, including AI‑enabled workflows.

Required profile

• Proven track record of shipping digital products with a strong portfolio.
• Comfortable handling complexity and turning it into clear design solutions.
• Passionate about design craft, consistency, and user experience.
• Systems‑thinking mindset, not just screen‑level design.
• Collaborative, open to feedback, and eager to grow skills.
