Curriculum Advisor

About the role

The Curriculum Advisor will support teachers, Kaiako and early‑learning services in Napier to develop high‑quality teaching and learning programmes aligned with national curriculum priorities. Working within a regional team, you will help improve learning outcomes for all ākonga, with a focus on equity and cultural relevance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice and support to schools, kura and early‑learning centres on curriculum design, assessment practices and implementation of government priorities.
• Collaborate with parents, whānau, iwi and community partners to ensure curricula reflect the aspirations of learners.
• Identify, develop and deliver high‑quality curriculum resources that meet diverse educational needs.
• Build and maintain collaborative networks across the region and share best practices.
• Champion the integration of Māori knowledge and promote equitable outcomes for Māori learners.

Required profile

• Proven experience building effective relationships and partnerships in education settings.
• Strong expertise in curriculum design, particularly in literacy, communication or mathematics.
• Deep understanding of teaching, learning, leadership and assessment theory and practice.
• Ability to use Māori bodies of knowledge to inform curriculum delivery.
• Demonstrated success in improving outcomes for diverse communities.
