Compliance Officer – West Auckland

About the role

This permanent, field‑based position protects Auckland’s environment and community by delivering a multi‑disciplinary compliance service. You will investigate breaches, advise customers, and support remediation and enforcement under the Resource Management Act, Building Act and relevant bylaws.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site inspections and investigations across West Auckland.
• Assess compliance situations and provide clear advice to customers.
• Prepare and issue enforcement notices, manage remediation activities and follow up on breaches.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
• Provide after‑hours and on‑call support as required.

Required profile

• Confident professional with a background in regulatory compliance, law enforcement or investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to translate legislative requirements.
• Proven problem‑solving, negotiation and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Tertiary qualification in Compliance, Risk Management, Law or Resource Management (or equivalent).
• Minimum two years’ experience in a regulatory or government setting.
• Current New Zealand driver’s licence and willingness to work in the field.
