Clinical Operations Manager

About the role

The Clinical Operations Manager will lead the operational and clinical performance of Southern Cross Invercargill Hospital, ensuring safe, efficient and financially sustainable patient care. Reporting to the General Manager, you will work closely with senior leaders to drive service excellence across all surgical specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day clinical and operational performance of the hospital.
• Lead service‑improvement initiatives, workforce planning and change management.
• Support certification audits, quality and risk management programs.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with medical specialists and external partners.
• Identify and implement growth opportunities for new services.
• Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years post‑registration clinical experience, including at least 3 years in a surgical hospital environment.
• 6+ years of senior leadership experience managing high‑performing healthcare teams.
• Proven track record of delivering operational excellence and strong clinical and business outcomes.
• Excellent people‑leadership abilities covering workforce planning, employee relations and project delivery.
• Commercially astute with a solid understanding of financial sustainability in healthcare.
