Checkout Operator

About the role

We are looking for a Checkout Operator to join our Woolworths New Zealand team. In this customer‑focused position you will be the front‑line representative, ensuring a smooth and friendly checkout experience for shoppers across our stores.

Key responsibilities

• Provide face‑to‑face customer service at checkout lanes.
• Process cash and EFTPOS payments accurately.
• Assist customers by sharing product knowledge and answering queries.
• Enforce age‑restricted sale policies for tobacco, alcohol and similar items.
• Support customers using self‑service checkout stations.

Required profile

• Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
• Makes customer‑first decisions aligned with store processes.
• Works well within a team and communicates effectively.
• Comfortable standing for the duration of a shift.
• Maintains a friendly smile and welcoming attitude.

Required skills

• Operate cash registers and EFTPOS terminals.
• Understand regulations for age‑restricted product sales.
• Basic knowledge of store product range.
