Casual Customer Service Assistant

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic Casual Customer Service Assistants to join the Visitor Experience and Engagement team at Auckland Zoo. In this role you will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring a warm welcome and a seamless experience from arrival to departure across a variety of service areas.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and assist visitors at the gate, information centre, retail shop, concierge and membership hub.
• Process ticket and membership sales using POS systems.
• Handle visitor enquiries, manage queues and support hire‑item operations.
• Assist with special programmes such as birthday parties, Tamariki Time sessions and Te Wao Nui tours.
• Promote conservation messages and use simple Te Reo Māori when interacting with guests.
• Maintain clean, welcoming environments and collaborate with team members across all operational areas.

Required profile

• Well‑presented with proven experience delivering outstanding customer service.
• Background in retail, hospitality or other customer‑facing environments.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to multitask.
• Positive, adaptable attitude with willingness to work outdoors and on your feet for extended periods.
