Backend Engineer (Remote, Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to design and build scalable backend services for our digital products. This fully remote, contract position offers the chance to work with a high‑performing engineering team and shape core technology infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑performance backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with product and front‑end teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Optimize systems for reliability, security and efficiency.
• Write clean, well‑documented, test‑covered code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, mentor peers and share knowledge.
• Monitor production, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and propose innovative solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously in a fully remote team.
• Proactive, collaborative mindset and experience with fast‑paced environments.

Required skills

• Modern backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js).
• Design and implementation of RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Relational and NoSQL databases with data modeling.
• System security, authentication and authorization best practices.
• Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Containerization tools like Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Event‑driven or serverless architectures (preferred).
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
