Assistant Project Manager

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join a leading client‑side project management consultancy in New Zealand. You will support the delivery of diverse projects across commercial, education, aged care, healthcare, master‑planned communities and fit‑out sectors, from initial planning through to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all project activities throughout the complete project life‑cycle.
• Identify project scope, goals and deliverables.
• Manage procurement and contract administration.
• Control programme schedules and cost budgets.
• Maintain excellent communication with all stakeholders and manage client relationships.
• Lead design management through the consent process.
• Coordinate external consultants to optimise best practice and construction delivery.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years NZ commercial construction experience.
• Experience in a Project Management Consultancy or related fields such as architecture, engineering, planning, construction site management or quantity surveying.
• Background in commercial, education, aged care, healthcare, master‑planned communities or fit‑out projects is preferred.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with multiple stakeholders.
• Proven track record of managing projects through the full life‑cycle.
• Good knowledge of NZ Building Standards and the tendering process.
