Assistant Programme Manager – After‑School Programs

About the role
Join sKids as an Assistant Programme Manager and help create memorable mornings and afternoons for children across the Mt Roskil area. You’ll work a minimum of 10 hours per week, primarily on weekday afternoons, with occasional early‑morning and school‑holiday shifts.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Programme Manager in day‑to‑day operations and act as second‑in‑command when needed.
- Lead and supervise large groups of tamariki, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and fun environment.
- Plan and deliver structured activities such as arts & crafts, sports, games, and off‑site trips.
- Manage challenging behaviour using positive guidance strategies.
- Guide Programme Assistants on shift and maintain activity flow.
- Build positive relationships with parents, caregivers, and school staff.
- Assist with set‑up, pack‑down, and resource preparation for each session.
Required profile
- Legal right to work in New Zealand (visa or citizenship).
- Reliable transport to reach Marshall Laing, Dominion Road, Hillborough and Onehunga sites.
- Experience working with groups of children (e.g., OSCAR, childcare, coaching, teaching, camps).
- Confidence to step into a leadership role and make decisions.
- Ability to manage group behaviour calmly, firmly, and supportively.
- Team‑player attitude with strong communication skills for both children and adults.
